Starred: Star Battle Puzzle · Last updated 4 October 2026
Published by Gridlark Game Developers (SMC-Private) Limited.
Summary
Starred has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email or contacts. Your progress, coins and settings are stored only on your device. The current version shows no ads. If you allow it, the app sends anonymous puzzle statistics to Google Firebase so the target times can be tuned.
Information stored on your device
Level progress, saved boards, best times, streaks, coin balance, purchases you have made, your reminder time and your sound, music, haptics and display settings. This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Advertising
The current version of Starred shows no ads and does not request any. A later version may show ads through Google AdMob; if it does, this section will say so and the date above will change before that version is released. In that case AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and ad interaction data to show and measure ads, to prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, to personalise ads. Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland) the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Purchases
The current version sells nothing. If a later version offers optional in-app purchases, they will be processed entirely by Google Play. The app never sees your payment details; it only receives confirmation that a purchase was made.
Anonymous play statistics (Firebase Analytics)
What is sent. When you finish a puzzle, the app sends one event to Google Firebase Analytics describing the puzzle and how it went: whether it was a Journey level, a Daily Puzzle, an archived Daily, the Weekly Challenge or a Quick Play board, the level number, board number, the date of the daily puzzle or the week of the Weekly Challenge, the board size and difficulty, how long the solve took and the target time, how many hints were used, how many stars were placed in the wrong spot, whether it was your first solve of that puzzle, and whether it was played in normal, Zen or Challenge mode. No name, email, account, contact, precise location or free text is ever sent. Firebase also records what it collects for every app by default: an app-instance identifier generated for this install, the app version, device model, operating system version, language, country derived from the IP address, and when the app was opened. The advertising ID is not collected for analytics, Android ID collection is switched off, and analytics data is never used for advertising or ad personalisation.
Why. To see how long real players take on each kind of board, so the target times and difficulty can be made fair.
Consent. Collection is off until the app has asked for consent where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland). If you decline there, nothing is sent unless you switch it on yourself.
How to opt out. Open Settings → Privacy and turn off Share anonymous play stats. Nothing more is sent from that moment. Firebase keeps analytics events for at most 14 months, after which they are deleted. Uninstalling the app removes its identifier from your device. See Firebase privacy and security.
Remote settings (Firebase Remote Config)
The app downloads small settings, such as the numbers the target times are worked out from, coin rewards and, in a version that shows ads, how often ads may appear, from Google Firebase Remote Config, so they can be adjusted without an app update. This request carries a Firebase installation identifier and basic app and device information, and no personal information.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, the app schedules it on your device with Android's own notification system. No server is involved and nothing is sent anywhere. You can turn reminders off in Settings at any time.
Sharing results
When you share a result, the app hands the text or picture to your device's share sheet. The app itself sends nothing; what happens next is up to the app you choose.
Crash reports
The app does not include a crash-reporting service.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
